AWACN AFRICA

Welcome to AWACN

We Rise to Speak. We Rise to Lead. We Rise to Change!

Our Story

The African Women Against Corruption Network (AWACN) is a Pan-African non-profit organisation committed to advancing the leadership and participation of women and girls in the fight against corruption. Guided by the values of gender justice, accountability, courage, and collaboration, AWACN challenges traditional approaches that ignore or minimize how corruption uniquely impacts women and girls.

Our Work

Across Africa, women and girls are disproportionately affected by corrupt systems, particularly through sexual corruption, where access to education, employment, or public services is exchanged for sexual favours. This abuse often remains unspoken, unrecognised, and unpunished, yet it is deeply rooted in everyday experiences. Our flagship programs, AWACN GirlsAWACN MenAWACN ConversationsAWACN Communities, , and the documentary Rising Voices: Unmasking Sexual Corruption in South Africa elevate lived realities and drive action to confront gendered corruption.
